Do It Again Editor's Review

When it comes to automation software, we already covered a few programs such as Macro Express and My Macros. Now I am going to tell you about another macro software which is much easier and simpler to use than any other previously reviewed macro software - Do It Again. For those who are not sure what a macro software is, imagine it as an automation tool that allows you to record particular tasks to be executed on your computer and then (when you want to) perform the same action autonomously.

Do It Again works like this: you record a particular task and once done, you'll get a shortcut for that task. When you open the shortcut, the recorded task is automatically performed. Let's see how we do that. First of all, hit the "Create a New Task" button and start performing tasks or actions which you wish to record. Once done, hit the "Scroll Lock" button on your keyboard to end the recording. After that, all you have to do is to pick a name for the task. To test the task, just double-click its name .

Going into details, Do It Again it doesn't record mouse movements (motions), it records mouse clicks. This, of course, can be a good thing because you can play the macros faster or slower than you've recorded them. You can also tell Do It Again to run a recorded task without any delay at all, but this is not recommended because your computer might not respond as fast as Do It Again will perform: it might result in messing up the task. More, you can insert arbitrary "pauses" between each key-press or mouse click, if you want to.

What else should you know about Do It Again? Well, a .dia file is created for each macro you've recorded to the Do It Again's program folder. I'm telling you this because you might want to copy them on your desktop (or your USB flash drive) and when you click them, Do It Again should perform the macros. However, make sure you go into the program options to associate the program with the .dia files. One more thing, in case you want to disable the startup music of the program, just go into the options and un-check the 'Play start-up music' option.

Pluses: Ease to use; FREE;

Drawbacks / flaws:

In conclusion: An extremely easy-to-use automation tool developed to perform autonomously monotonous tasks by recording all keyboard and mouse clicks.

Do It Again Publisher's Description

If there is something that you do on your computer over and over, and you do it exactly the same way every time (such as backing up your pictures, checking web-based email for new messages, etc.), you can tell Do It Again how to perform that task (by doing it once yourself to create the new task). Then you can run that task whenever you want and Do...
